ColdMD cold remedy
I saw this commercial on TV for a cold remedy and all I remembered was that it said: “Helps you recover 94 percent faster!”
Well after I did research, I found what it was: Cold MD. Then it clicked, that was the name.
Now, the kicker is that the 94% claim that was made in the commercial seems to be quite a bit misleading. Going to the site about cold MD (coldmdhealth.com) I find this explanation: “subjects reduced the duration of episodes by an average of 3.3 days vs. 1.7 days against the placebo (94 percent faster recovery)”
That's where the claim gets murky. How long is the duration of a cold episode? Mine can last anywhere from 6 days to nearly 2 weeks at times. Reducing my cold by 3.3 days still only cuts the duration down by about 50%. If my cold lasts 12 days, then that would only be a 25% reduction. The holy grail of cold medicines turned out to be yet another disappointment. I wish I could truly find something that would knock out my cold within one day. Dang I hate colds and one's coming on right now. Cold-eeze tends to help lessen the effects some, but doesn't do a whole lot to reduce the duration that much.
The doctor mentioned on that page says: “I've reviewed all of the research. In my opinion, Cold MD contains clinically proven ingredients for a drug-free way to support a strong immune system and allow you to recover faster.”—Dr. Marvin Heuer, MD, FAAFP, MD Scientific Advisory Board Member, Iomedix Chief Scientific Officer
After seeing that one “60 Minutes” episode about their placebo and how they got the doctor to confirm that it would help people be healthy, I find it hard to believe anything I see endorsed by doctors now, not that I wasn't skeptical already. That episode just further opened my eyes how companies pay actors and doctors to endorse products they never even used or tested. That doctor was exposed wide open right on 60 Minutes. Doctors will lie right to your face if there's money to be made. Makes me wonder what other things they are doing or promoting that makes money. I also wonder at times whether or not doctors deliberately withhold information that could help you get better faster, but instead they like to get you on new drugs or other treatments to keep you coming back to the doctor's office.
