How do you determine a good free directory as opposed to a waste of time?
Which blog comments are worth pursuing?
"Naturally Occurring Backlinks" - how can this be a tip? You have no control over it.
Article Submission - are they all equally good?
Highly Relevant Backlinking - define relevant and explain how you determine if a site is relevant before trying to obtain a link.

As all of you that backlink plays a important role for a website's ranking. I am going to discuss to top backing mistakes that usually can be avoided to increase your website ranking.

1. Use a good anchor texts with link to increase your website's PR .

2. Better to use image backlink with a keyword because image backlinks can bring more visitors towards your website.

3. Use all the attrbute of img tag. It is good for SEO.

4. Do not link with website having less ranking than your website.

5. Always get quality backlink e.g. only to those website that are related to your website.

6. Use DMOZ for directory submission.

Directory Linking-I wouldn't spend more than an hour on this, most directories get 0 traffic and have very little PR

Highly Relevant Backlinking-I have found this doesn't really matter just the keywords in the link

Naturally Occurring Backlinks-no such thing

Social Media Profiles-make sure it is do follow or creates a lot of traffic

Submit your site to web directory,already stated

Article Submission-I would not do this, you are creating content for someone elses site, In the long run it will hurt you, you may get some short term benefits
Blog Comments, I like this method and use it often along with top commentator but top commentator resets so I subscribe to high pr blogs and comment on most posts.

Just make sure to create links from relevant and DoFollow sites because Google gives more value on them.

I think posting with nofollow should be considered also as long as you are posting with authority sites.

And where does pretending to be an American while posting generic brain-cell-killing ad nauseam bad advice regurgitated on just about every online marketing-related website known to man while attempting to acquire non-existent "dofollow" backlinks to "SEO" your offshore web development services company's website fit in the overall marketing plan?
